Cape Town - Following initial consideration by the SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron, Melbourne Rebels lock Adam Byrnes will appear at a SANZAR Judicial Hearing after being cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match against the Waratahs on Friday.
Byrnes is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (m) Acts contrary to good sportsmanship - making contact with the eye.
Referee Bryce Lawrence issued a “White Card” and put the alleged incident on report for a Citing Commissioner review following a complaint from Waratahs captain Daniel Halangahu that his team-mate Tom Carter had allegedly been eye gouged during the match at AAMI Park in Melbourne.
The Judicial Officer for the hearing will be Paul Tully and it will be held by video conference on Sunday.
The Waraths won the game 35-19.
