Rebels add Ellison to roster

Force - Australia's Melbourne Rebels said on Friday they have bolstered their 2014 Super Rugby squad with the signing of Highlanders centre Tamati Ellison.

Ellison, 30, who has played for the All Blacks, has signed a one-year deal, the Rebels said.

Ellison joins the Rebels from Japanese club Ricoh Black Rams and Rebels head coach Tony McGahan said Ellison's versatility and experience would be valuable assets to the club.

"Tamati has the ability to play at a high level across a number of positions in the backline, which makes him a very important part of a Super XV squad in such a fast and demanding competition," McGahan said.

Ellison was a member of New Zealand's Sevens team that won gold in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, and has since played in New Zealand's NPC, Super Rugby, Japan's Top League and Test rugby.
