Cape Town - The Reds have handed out a Super Rugby thrashing to newcomers the Rebels in their match in Brisbane on Friday.

The Reds won 53-3 after leading 26-3 at half-time.

The Reds scored seven tries through prop Ben Daley, centre Anthony Faingaa, flank Scott Higginbotham, lock Adam Wallace-Harrison and replacements Mike Harris (2) and Luke Morahan. Flyhalf Quade Cooper kicked five conversions and two penalties, while Harris was successful with a conversion.

The Rebels replied with a solitary penalty by flyhalf Daniel Cipriani.
