One change for Crusaders

2012-07-24 14:55

Cape Town - The Crusaders have made one change to their starting line-up for their Super Rugby semi-final against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

Ben Franks will start in the No 3 jersey with brother Owen moving down to the bench.

Loose forward Kieran Read is still unavailable for selection this week. He was hurt during the Crusaders' match against the Chiefs in the second-to-last round of the regular season. An initial scan showed no sign of a fracture but subsequent tests revealed the injury which forced Read to miss last weekend's playoff match against the Bulls, which the Crusaders won 28-13.

In his absence, All Black captain Richie McCaw will remain at No 8 and Matt Todd at No 7.

The clash against the Chiefs kicks off at 09:35 (SA time) on Friday.

Teams:

Chiefs: TBA

Crusaders: 15. Israel Dagg, 14. Adam Whitelock, 13. Robert Fruean, 12. Ryan Crotty, 11. Zac Guildford, 10. Dan Carter, 9. Andy Ellis, 8. Richie McCaw (Captain), 7. Matt Todd, 6. George Whitelock, 5. Sam Whitelock, 4. Luke Romano, 3. Ben Franks, 2. Corey Flynn, 1. Wyatt Crockett

Substitutes: 16. Quentin MacDonald, 17. Owen Franks, 18. Tom Donnelly, 19. Luke Whitelock, 20. Willi Heinz, 21. Tom Taylor, 22. Sean Maitland

      cape.maori - 2012-07-24 16:19

@Isak - give me one cogent reason (not your usual emotional rants!) as to why the Saders are not capable of winning the competition.

      cape.maori - 2012-07-24 16:31

@Isak - thank you my friend! The Chiefs might be a difficult hurdle, but we know when the Saders roll into Cape Town, the stormers get nervous! They will then play against their childhood heroes! In any event, ou Sakkie, best of luck to your team, I will be at Newlands enjoying some footy and cold beer! I will think about you when the stormer babes come on!
