      Pro. sport, ....Money talks.

  • isak.dippenaar - 2011-06-19 14:00

i am not surprised. Which of our ex highly rated refs did enough to be selected.

      molefeP - 2011-06-19 14:06

I agree with you 100%. The standard of our SA referees is absolutely shocking! Not that Mrs Pollock, Dickinson, Munro, Lawrence and Brown are any better! The IRB needs to take a hand in this, SOON! I suggest all NH referees for SH matches, and SH referees for NH matches. Ensuring IMPARTIAL referees would be a good start at least.

      shucky - 2011-06-19 15:02

agree fully, why they can't get neutral refs for the SA games I just don't know. Craig Joubert reffed the aus derby yesterday and did a great job, and no one can point fingers even if reffing is bad n one can say the ref favoured one team. the game yesterday between Sharks and Bulls is a great example of why SA refs should not ref local games, Kaplan was his normal anti bull self, the last call at that line out will be a huge debate. and will always leave a bad taste in the bulls mouth. if it was a neutral ref and the same decision was made then it would have been accepted. But why would the best line out team in the world cause a so called obstuction in the 80th min when they were going for the win??? only Kaplan will be able to answer that... that being said the better team won anyway..

      Robnob - 2011-06-19 16:05

If anything Kaplan was pro Bulls, there were many small occurrences that went the Bulls way (22m drop instead of a 5m scrum when Olivier kicked the ball back over dead ball line). (Lineout deep in the Bulls 22 that should have been a Sharks put in.) I am just happy to see that idiot Pro Legoete. That oke is an absolute joke, there is a reason he is a touch judge and not the No1 on the field.

      Alan - 2011-06-19 21:24

Shucky, what are you on? Kaplin had another good game but I must admit that I though he was favouring the Bulls in the first half, it certainly seemed like the touch judges were on Bulls payroll. Honestly the Bulls had some big calls go there way in the tun in to the playoffs otherwise they wouldn't even have featured. No, the best team won last night or at least the team that turned up to play 80 min. Sorry but maybe next year for the Bulls.

  • Mohammed - 2011-06-19 14:26

Exactly. But then BIG BROTHER always rules.

  • Stephen - 2011-06-19 14:31

why am i not surprised ??

      Frik - 2011-06-19 18:03

Ja nee stephen ons soek onafhanklike beamptes wat blaas... Nie ouens wat vooraf besluit wie gaan wen nie...

  • Luckybugger - 2011-06-19 14:40

The standard of the referees through out the tournament has been below par, but the bias of the refereeing in some of the SA derby's was shocking to the extent where it appeared to come across as match fixing, so I am not surprised they have been left out, Go the REDS!!!!

      Marcell - 2011-06-19 14:46

Anything to make sure the Bulls are not there! Would it have anything to do with the teams demographics?

      shucky - 2011-06-19 15:05

glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.. Neutral refs should be a law for next year.

      Luckybugger - 2011-06-19 15:31

I fully agree and hope SANZAR see it that way, and that goes for the sighting commission as well, there is no consistency in the outcomes in the three countries, even here is Aus certain teams and players appear to receive more leniency than other teams at times

      thames - 2011-06-19 17:31

@Luckybugger. I agree with you regarding the match fixing and these recent events have affected the credibility of SA refs. They do not deserve to be rewarded with high profile matches.

      Alan - 2011-06-19 21:30

Yes, like the try the Stormers scored against the Saders that was disallowed but after the game the irb stepped in to correct the ref saying it was a try and Stormers should've won the game. Like the late hit with no arms SBW put on Kankowski but no penalty, card or citing Like the dangerous hit SBW put in on Wynand but no penalty, card or citing Like the 4 week suspension of Butch but worse tackles (in aussie and Kiwi games) this weekend go completely unpunished, not even a card. Like Stu dickonson in the Reds v Saders game I mean dude, shall I continue. Maybe you should go comment on Kiwi or Aussie sites with Rod Kafer and co cause it seems like your glasses are so way tinted you can't even see your own coutryman (yes it is clear you are not a safer but just rawling on our sites) cheat!

  • Ace Ventura - 2011-06-19 15:52

    What about Pro?

      Frik - 2011-06-19 18:04

      Wat van Kaplan?

      WPBEFONK - 2011-06-19 18:23

Why are you still on this blog. The Bulls are HISTORY??

      Frik - 2011-06-19 18:33

      Stoffers oor twee weke...

      Ace Ventura - 2011-06-19 18:45

BALSAK, because my 2nd (Crusaders), 3rd (Reds), 4th (Waratahs) and 5th (Blues) favourite teams are still in the competition.

      WPBEFONK - 2011-06-19 20:45

Ja ACE. So jy support NZ en OZ spanne bo jou land se spanne??

      Ace Ventura - 2011-06-19 21:03

BALSAK en ek neem aan jy sou die bulle support het as hulle moes deurgaan. Gaan sĂȘ dit vir jou ma, miskien glo sy dit.

You people can not seriously believe that referee s cheat.Referees all over the world in my experience are the most honest individuals you will find.Their integrity is beyond doubt.I am specifically talking about referees in the sport of rugby. As all human beings they do make mistakes from time to time. This does not amount to cheating. It is also humanly impossible to see everything that happens on a rugbyfield. The referees are trained to handle a game in such a way that they make the minimum mistakes humanly possible. The referee in the modern day game adds a lot of spice to the game.Without the referee ,the game would be much poorer.Referee s is part of the tradition of the game.If you want no mistakes, you will need an all seeing camera eye with modern computer technology that will lead to time consuming delays. That will take a lot of fun out of the game ,like the supporter that tried to influence a game with laser technology. The computer will eventually be blamed for matchfixing by some fanatic fans. All referees needs a very thick rhinoceros skin. They are as a rule criticised by numerous fans that think they know the rules, but has never read a rulebook.Referees makes much less mistakes than players. The referees mistakes are just remembered must longer and highlighted because he is the only referee on the field. When you want to criticise a referee next time first stop and count to 10 and ask yourself if you could do better.

      Ace Ventura - 2011-06-19 16:17

''You people can not seriously believe that referee s cheat.Referees all over the world in my experience are the most honest individuals you will find.Their integrity is beyond doubt.'' What is Santa bringing you this year? Also remember to put your tooth in your slipper before you go to bed.

      Conde_Nast - 2011-06-19 20:19

I agree with you crocowild. Some sanity prevails.

  • Alan - 2011-06-19 21:20

Ok, so that Sharks are gone then. Save the money don't fly out just collect the cash for making it into the qualifiers.

  • Zion - 2011-06-20 08:08

Now South African referees can officiate on the SA game

  • TheWizard - 2011-06-20 08:12

Like father... like son. With Andre Watson in charge of the South African referees no wonder they are the joke of SANZAR rugby. If we want to see change start with the idiot right at the top.

  • Gazza69 - 2011-06-20 08:51

Pathetic! Surely a game as important as a play off requires neutral refs???? Hometown decisions will be critical in the outcome!!
