Johannesburg - Golden Lions CEO Manie Reyneke has poured cold water on rumours former Lions duo Joe van Niekerk and Ernst Joubert will be returning "home" before the Rugby World Cup.
Van Niekerk is somewhat of a folk hero at Toulon in France, while Joubert is playing great rugby for Saracens in England. Both recently signed new contracts, according to Reyneke, taking them out of the equation for the Lions.
“In any case, we have enough cover at loose forward at the moment and a lot of talent in those positions,” Reyneke said.
The Lions have confirmed the signing of a trio of Sharks players ahead of this year's Super 15 in Rory Kockott, Patrick Cilliers and Michael Rhodes, with Andre Pretorius also rumoured to be on his way back to Johannesburg.
