New skipper for Kings

Cape Town - The Kings will have a new leader when they tackle the Stormers in a pre-season game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday.

According to Die Burger's website, loose forward Darron Nell sustained a fracture in his right elbow against the Lions last week and won't be able to play.

Experienced lock Steven Sykes is now expected to captain the team against the Capetonians, with regular skipper Luke Watson still sidelined.

It is expected that either Thembelani Bholi or Stephen Zaayman will take Nell's place at flank.

Another hooker is also needed after Dane van der Westhuyzen dislocated his right elbow. He will be out for about six weeks, with either Albé de Swardt, JC Oberholzer or Tabbie du Plessis taking his place.

Good news for the Kings is that wing Sergeal Petersen will be ready to tackle the Stormers. He injured his knee against the Lions but is expected to be fit.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
