Matfield to still face Stormers?

Cape Town - Victor Matfield could still face the Stormers in a pre-season game in Polokwane on Saturday, despite not being included in the Bulls squad.

The former Springbok lock was expected to make his return to rugby in the Super Rugby warm-up game, but his name was missing from the Bulls team-sheet when coach Frans Ludeke named his side on Wednesday.

Ludeke was mum on the subject but according to the Beeld website, Matfield could still get a few minutes off the bench on Saturday.

It is believed that a few hiccups regarding Matfield's contract are delaying his return. The hiccups should however be sorted before the weekend which means Matfield could get some game time.

Matfield also became a father for the third time on Wednesday when his wife Monja gave birth to a daughter.

The clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium kicks off at 17:00.
