Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Nick Mallett says the Bulls do not serve to be in the Super Rugby playoffs with the type of rugby they have played this season.
The Bulls’ 21-20 loss to the Rebels in Melbourne at the weekend saw the end of their playoff hopes in this year’s Super Rugby competition.
It also ended a miserable tour for the men from Pretoria, who lost all four their games in Australasia.
It is the second year in a row that the Bulls have returned from their overseas Super Rugby tour without a victory.
In Saturday’s clash in Melbourne, the Bulls were unlucky when the Television Match Official failed to award what appeared to be a legitimate try to centre Burger Odendaal.
A win would have kept the Bulls’ playoff hopes alive, but according to Mallett they do not deserve as much.
Speaking in the SuperSport studio at the
weekend, Mallett said: “Even if the Bulls had won (in Melbourne) they still
don't deserve to be in the top six the way they have played (this season).”
