Cape Town - Bulls coach Frans Ludeke was forced to miss his weekly team announcement on Wednesday after rushing to his wife’s Anelia’s side as she delivered a set of triplets, reports the supersport.com website.
Ludeke rushed to the hospital to be by her side after she was admitted on Tuesday night after going into labour early, with the three healthy babies being born on Wednesday morning.
Currie Cup coach Pine Pienaar filled in for Ludeke at the press conference as he spent the day at the hospital on family leave.
The couple have one daughter, and the arrival of the triplets will bring Ludeke some different challenges to his normal day job of coaching the Bulls.
“Frans and Anelia this morning had triplets - two daughters and a Bull (boy). All three of them and the mother, as well as the coach are in good health. He has taken the day (off) as he has a few challenges to deal with,” Blue Bulls CEO Barend van Graan said at the team announcement.
“Because they were born early, it was a serious process and that is why he isn’t here today. He wanted to keep it private, as it is a family affair. On behalf of the Blue Bulls Company, and the team, we want to congratulate him.
“We hope that these children will give his family much pleasure and happiness over the years to come.”
Ludeke has also bought a minivan in recent weeks to aid the adjustment in lifestyle he is about to face.
