Lions beaten in Auckland

Cape Town - The Lions have lost their bottom-of-the-table Vodacom Super Rugby clash against the Blues in Auckland on Friday.

The Blues won 25-3 after leading 10-3 at half-time.

The Blues scored three tries through centre Michael Hobbs, replacement scrumhalf Alby Mathewson and flank Luke Braid, while flyhalf Gareth Anscombe was on target with two conversions and two penalties.

The Lions replied with a penalty by No 10 Elton Jantjies.

The Blues picked up four points for their victory, but remained rooted to the bottom of the New Zealand Conference. They did however move off the bottom of the Combined standings, swapping places with the Lions.

The Lions left Eden Park empty-handed, and remained bottom of the South African Conference... and are the new wooden spoonists in the Overall log.
