Lions back at training base

Cape Town - The Lions are back in training following a break over the festive period as they prepare for the upcoming Super Rugby season.

They posted the following via their official Facebook account on Monday:

The men in RED are back into the swing of things today and have just started their first training session of the new year!

The men from Johannesburg will return to Super Rugby this year after missing out at the expense of the Kings in 2013. They forced their way back in after edging the men from Port Elizabeth in a promotion-relegation series last year.

The Lions will play three warm-up games - against the Leopards (Ellis Park, January 24), Kings (Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, February 1), and Sharks (Ellis Park, February 7), before starting the season-proper against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on February 15.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
