Lions' Jantjies Japan-bound

Cape Town - Lions flyhalf Elton Jantjies is set to head to Japan and won't be available for the Currie Cup later this year.

According to the Beeld website, the 23-year-old Springbok has signed a deal with the NTT Shining Arcs.

He will, however, return to play for the Lions in next year's Super Rugby competition, as is the case with many Japan-based South Africans.

Jantjies, who played two Tests for the Boks in 2012, has fallen out of favour at the Lions where Marnitz Boshoff is the first-choice flyhalf.

This therefore brings an end to reports linking Jantjies with possible moves to the Kings and Cheetahs for the Currie Cup later this year.
