Lions prop Van der Linde cited

Cape Town - Lions prop CJ van der Linde has been cited for alleged foul play in their Super Rugby clash against the Force in Perth on Saturday.

Van der Linde is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (m): Acts contrary to good sportsmanship, when he allegedly hit Force lock Toby Lynn at the back of a ruck while the players were involved in a clean-out.

The incident occurred in the 10th minute of the match at NIB Stadium, which the Force won 17-11.

The referee, Garratt Williamson, referred the incident to the citing commissioner by issuing a white card following a complaint by Force captain David Pocock.

Upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion that the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron.
