19:02 - MAN-OF-THE-MATCH

Stormers No 14 Damian de Allende received the best player accolade (Gallo Images).

18:59 - Thanks for tuning in. In next week's action, the Stormers face the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein, while the Lions have a bye before touring Australasia.

18:59 - TWEET

On the basis of what we've seen this weekend SA has no right to a 6th in Super Rugby - Dan Retief

18:53 - FULL-TIME: Stormers 18-3 Lions

18:52 - Knock-ons and errors galore as the game ends on a low note. This second half was arguably the worst 40 minutes of rugby I've witnessed in a very long time. The skills level and discipline of our players must be alarming for Bok coach Heyneke Meyer!

18:51 - After the Lions move up to the Stormers 22m area, the hosts win a penalty on the ground and launch their own counter-attack...

18:50 - Lions scrum - five metres from their line - with one minute left.

They win another penalty and take a quick tap to launch an attack up-field...

18:49 - A chip-and-chase and good follow up from Jaco Taute puts the Stormers back inside the Lions 22m area, but again they cough it up....

18:47 - The Stormers have a rare attacking chance inside the Lions 22m area, but the ball is turned over...

18:45 - Jean de Villiers is also back on for the Stormers. It must have been a blood-bin. I really can't see the use of risking him for five more minutes... the game should be won by the Stormers, despite them doing absolutely nothing in the second half, bar conceding penalties.

18:44 - TMO Shaun Veldsman says he couldn't see any intent as both players remain on the field!

18:43 - Replays show Faf de Klerk trying to stamp on Rhodes who was lying on the ground... Rhodes was understandably upset and got up to push De Klerk around...

18:42 - Referee Stuart Berry again goes upstairs to check for potential foul play against Michael Rhodes.

18:41 - In all, the Stormers have now conceded 17 penalties to the Lions' 9.

18:39 - Skipper Jean de Villiers has limped off for the Stormers. Devon Williams is on. He will play wing, with De Allende moving into midfield.

18:39 - PICTURE

Stormers No 15 Peter Grant slotted in at flyhalf early on when Demetri Catrakilis left the field with a suspected broken nose... (Gallo Images)

18:36 - Pat Cilliers now also on at prop for the Stormers, with Frans Malherbe off.

18:35 - Some real poor skills on display late in the second half now from both sides. As the previous tweet states...

18:33 - TWEET
Based on skill level shown by Lions and Stormers, Boks would struggle to beat Georgia - David Moseley

18:32 - Brok Harris and Jurie van Vuuren also on for the Stormers. Steven Kitshoff and Ruan Botha off.

18:31 - Two new props now on for the LionsCorné Fourie and Ruan Dreyer.

Julian Redelinghuys and Schalk van der Merwe off.

18:28 - The Stormers are conceding penalty after penalty here with the Lions hot on attack. The hosts are lucky to still have 15 men on the field...

A botched Lions lineout brings relief for the hosts though...

18:27 - But the Lions turn it over and launch a counter-attack deep into Stormers territory...

18:25 - Schalk van der Merwe again drops a ball in midfield for the Lions! The Stormers counter and surge into Lions territory...

18:22 - A new scrumhalf on for the Stormers as well as Louis Schreuder replaces Nic Groom. Not the right call if you ask me. Groom had one of his better games. Showed real intent to attack!

18:21 - The Stormers have conceded 6 penalties in the first 17 minutes of the second half!

18:20 - NEW HALFBACKS FOR LIONS

Elton Jantjies and Faf de Klerk on for Marnitz Boshoff and Ross Cronjé.

18:19 - After a concerted period of attack, the Stormers concede a penalty when Steven Kitshoff comes in from the side. Chance gone begging...

18:17 - Groom takes a quick tap after the Stormers win a penalty just inside the Lions half. They surge up to the Lions 22m area and win a penalty. And take another quick tap...

18:13 - A promising Lions attack ends when prop Schalk van der Merwe drops it in midfield, just inside the Stormers 22m area.

What's the prop doing in midfield in any case?

18:12 - A slew of penalties conceded by the Stormers early in the second half halting their charge somewhat ...

18:08 - Easy PENALTY slotted by Boshoff.

Stormers 18-3 Lions after 44 minutes.

18:07 - A minute later, and De Villiers is again penalised, this time for a late tackle. He's not happy with referee Berry. But that was a good call in my book. It was almost a late shoulder charge by the Stormers captain.

18:05 - Early penalty to the Lions just inside their own half. Jean de Villiers penalised for a dangerous tackle.

Pretty shocking call from the referee though... Replays show there was nothing wrong with it.

18:04 - Welcome back for the second half. Grant, at flyhalf, starts proceedings. Catrakilis has a suspected broken nose so won't be back in this game.

Clean breaks: Stormers 2-1 Lions
Tackles made: Stormers 40-55 Lions
Missed tackles: Stormers 3-7 Lions
Turnovers won: Stormers 4-6 Lions
Kicks in play: Stormers 12-12 Lions
Rucks won: Stormers 39-26 Lions
Rucks lost: Stormers 2-1 Lions
Lineouts won: Stormers 3-7 Lions
Lineouts lost: Stormers 0-2 Lions
Scrums won: Stormers 2-4 Lions
Scrums lost: Stormers 1-0 Lions
Penalties conceded: Stormers 7-7 Lions

17:52 - HALF-TIME: Stormers 18-0 Lions

17:51 - My word, Fourie is in there again. But this time he wins a penalty. He is taking big risks though. Had he conceded another penalty there, that was a red card!

17:49 - The Lions come very close and win a penalty when Deon Fourie transgresses at a ruck. The referee warns him he's already on a yellow card...

The visitors opt for a scrum this time round...

17:48 - Meanwhile, the Lions set up an attacking lineout five metres out just before the break...

17:47 - Bob Skinstad suggests the addition of psychologist Henning Gericke this week has made a big difference to the attacking mentality of the Stormers.

17:46 - The Stormers are on a mission, again they attack up to the Lions' 22m area. However, the move is halted by Watermeyer winning a turnover penalty...

17:45 - Deon Fourie is now back from the sin-bin. During his time off, the Stormers scored 12 points without conceding...

17:44 - Grant lands the easy CONVERSION.

Stormers 18-0 Lions after 35 minutes.

17:43 - TRY! Nizaam Carr finishes off after a concerted period of attack by the hosts...

Some great ball-handling skills by the Cape side!

17:42 - Stormers launching wave after wave of attack now...

17:39 - Grant pulls the conversion to the left.

Stormers 11-0 Lions after 30 minutes.

17:37 - TRY! Damian de Allende scores close to the corner, finishing off a move which started on their own 22m line from a turnover.

Also some quick thinking from Jean de Villiers who took a quick tap after the Stormers received a penalty.

Someone has done something to the Stormers' attacking play in the last fortnight....

17:36 - Tagicakibau is back on for the Stormers, as debutant Williams goes back to the bench.

17:35 - It's just a penalty against Rhodes. No yellow card. Correct call made.

17:34 - Replays show Rhodes performing a late tackle on Stefan Watermeyer. He lifted him in the air but did not drive him into the ground...

17:33 - Referee Stuart Berry checks with TMO Shaun Veldsman for potential foul play in a tackle by Stormers lock Michael Rhodes.

17:31 - Grant's kicking woes back as be hits the left-hand upright to miss a relatively easy kick...

17:30 - Stormers win another kickable penalty as Lions flank Jaco Kriel fails to roll away in a tackle. Harsh call on him. He could hardly get out of there Mr Ref!

17:29 - Also still no sign of Catrakilis returning for the Stormers...

17:28 - The Stormers must start to question the discipline of Deon Fourie. For a man of his experience, he concedes far too often in an unnecessary manner...

17:27 - A rare miss from Boshoff as he pulls it to the left...

17:26 - YELLOW CARD

Stormers hooker Deon Fourie is sent to the sin-bin for cynically shoulder-charging into Lions prop Schalk van der Merwe.

Boshoff will line up, about 15m in from touch!

17:24 - Another scrum penalty won by the Stormers, on half-way. However, referee Berry is told by the assistant referee he penalised the wrong man and changes his decision. Lions penalty.

Marius van der Westhuizen is the assistant referee who made the call and he was 60m away! I certainly can't see that far into the scrum to a make a call...

17:22 - Stormers wing Sailosi Tagicakibau is also in the blood-bin, which gives a Super Rugby debut for Devon Williams.

17:20 - PENALTY converted by Grant. That was from the corner - which will give Grant some confidence!

Stormers 6-0 Lions after 15 minutes.

17:19 - However, referee Berry gives a penalty as he felt the Lions deliberately tapped the ball down...

17:18 - My word, arguably the best Stormers attack of the year finishes when Nizaam Carr's pass goes awry right in the corner... Almost the whole Stormers team handled the ball there as they ran from inside their own half!

17:16 - WORLD RECORD HOLDER IN THE HOUSE

World marathon record holder Wilson Kipsang is spotted in the crowd wearing a Stormers jersey! He was present earlier today at the Two Oceans Marathon.

17:16 - And just as I write, they go and knock it on at the ensuing scrum...

17:14 - The scrums are a mess early on. A Lions free-kick sees them opt for another scrum. Why? Just tap it! Get some flow in the game...

17:09 - Stormers win the first scrum penalty as Schalk van der Merwe is penalised for an illegal bind.

Grant fails to find touch but he'll be happy to see Anthony Volmink drop the ball. Poor skills all round!

17:08 - Catrakilis leaves the field after getting a cut to the face. He'll be back though.

Jaco Taute on for the moment, with No 15 Peter Grant moving to flyhalf...

17:07 - Demetri Catrakilis kicks an easy PENALTY from in front.

Stormers 3-0 Lions after 2 minutes.

17:06 - The hosts win a kickable penalty as MB Lusaseni is penalised for not rolling away at a tackle...

17:06 - The Stormers get the first chance to attack as they steal the first Lions lineout on halfway...

17:04 - Marnitz Boshoff starts proceedings. Stuart Berry is the referee today.

17:04 - Jean de Villiers leads out the Stormers. His 103rd Super Rugby match.

17:03 - Derick Minnie will now lead the Lions in the absence of Warren Whiteley.

17:00 - CONDITIONS

A bright sunny day in Cape Town, but a pretty stiff breeze which could pose the kickers some problems.

16:58 - INJURY BLOWS FOR LIONS

Lions captain Warren Whiteley and lock Martin Muller have been withdrawn from today's clash. They are replaced by Willie Britz and MB Lusaseni.
