Commentary by Sport24's Garrin Lambley

THANKS FOR JOINING US FOR THE MATCH!

80' - In next weekend's Round 14 action the Force travel to Newlands to play the Stormers while the Cheetahs welcome the Brumbies to Bloemfontein

80' - The Force pick up four points for their win and move to second in the Australian Conference and fourth in the Overall standings, while the Cheetahs pick up a single point for losing by seven or fewer points to move off the bottom of the SA Conference and into 14th in the Overall log

80' - The Cheetahs weren't great to be fair today and did their fellow South African team no favours whatsoever

80' - FULL-TIME IN BLOEMFONTEIN

Force win 23-16

80' - Scrum reset after reset ensures this will be the final act of the match

79' - Elgar Watts does his best but to no avail, the Force have a scrum and it looks like they will get their two-match SA tour off to a winning start

78' - TWEET

Pollock is nowhere. Force in from the side, offsides at the maul and flopping at the ruck. Shocking - Kevin McCallum

77' - Into the final three minutes and the Force have the feed to the scrum inside their own half.

75' - Sands of time ticking away now for the Cheetahs. Story of their season I fear...

74' - UNBELIEVABLE defence by the Force sees them hold the Cheetahs up literally over the line.

Turnover ball...

73' - Impressive driving maul by the Cheetahs sees them awarded a penalty. It's ALL the Cheetahs now as the Force try their best to hang on to their lead

72' - Anyway, penalty to the Force is the result and they clear for touch

71' - Commentator Warren Brosnihan bizarrely wants to see it in real time!?

Why Bros? The TMO is there to S-L-O-W it down!

71' - NO TRY!

71' - One of those 50/50 decisions. Ball looks short, may have been lost...

71' - Referee consults his TMO though. One day I'll meet a referee brave enough to make his own calls...

71' - TRY to the Cheetahs!

70' - 10 minutes to play in Bloemfontein...

Loose trio of Cheetahs are playing their hearts out,Boom,Brüssouw and Mahojo been exceptional, then backs mess it up! - Breyton Paulse

66' - Willie le Roux, fantastic this season, has been largely absent today.

Has he something special up his sleeve for later?

65' - More end to end kicking. Not ideal from the Cheetahs who trail by 7 points with 15 minutes to play

PICTURE

Former Cheetahs star flyhalf, Sias Ebersohn, now playing for the Force (Gallo Images)

62' - Blow for the Cheetahs as scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius hobbles off as the match enters the final quarter...

60' - Substitution by the Cheetahs sees Willem Serfontein enter the fray. Serfontein, on debut, is the older brother of Bulls centre Jan Serfontein

59' - The Cheetahs attack, but former Ikey Marcel Brache turns the ball over and the Force head downfield. Good tracking back by the Cheetahs pays off as they are awarded a penalty just inside their half after more cynical play by Force captain Matt Hodgson

OTHER RESULT...

For those interested, the Junior Boks have beaten their Argentina opponents 41-36

57' - Goosen adds the PENALTY and the Cheetahs close the gap to 23-16 after 57 minutes

56' - The Force are back to a full complement of 15 players and the Cheetahs are awarded a soft penalty as the Force's chasers are caught offside

55' - Sias Ebersohn successfully manages to bounce the conversion kick off both uprights - and then OVER to give the Force a 23-13 lead after 55 minutes

54' - And all this with only 14 men on the field...

53' - Impressive by the Force as they display patience on defence, but intercepting a pass, heading upfield and setting up that man NICK 'HONEY BADGER' CUMMINS for the five-pointer!

53' - TRY to the Force

51' - And the biggest cheer of the night is reserved for Cheetahs fullback Hennie Daniller who puts his head down and RUNS rather than engaging in the kicking game!

50' - Scrappy aerial ping-pong by both sides at present. No one gaining much and the crowd growing restless - and fast!

48 - The Cheetahs are right back in the match as the Force are now forced to survive with 14 men

47' - BOOM PRINSLOO is the try scorer and Johan Goosen adds the conversion as the Force's lead is cut to 16-13 after 47 minutes

46' - And in the interim Force captain Matt Hodgson is shown a yellow card for a professional foul

45' - Shambolic by referee Chris Pollock though. He has to be TALKED INTO GOING TO THE TMO by Cheetahs skipper Adriaan Strauss!

44' - TRY to the Cheetahs!

43' - Quick tap penalty taken by Sarel Pretorius - as is his want - and he catches the Force "not back 10m". Another penalty which the Cheetahs kick for touch.

Force on a final warning...

40' - Cheetahs off to a rampaging start. Clearly stern words spoken in the Cheetahs' dressingroom at the break!

40' - And we're back under way in Bloem!

OTHER RESULTS...

For those interested, the Golden Lions have beaten the Blue Bulls 16-15 in their Vodacom Cup semi-final and will play Griquas in next weekend's final in Kimberley.

Meanwhile, Maties have beaten Ikeys 19-18 in their intervarsity clash in Stellenbosch

40' - Dying seconds of the first half and the Cheetahs are awarded a penalty which they kick for poles - and Goosen doubles the home sides score.

Force lead 16-6 as the HALF-TIME siren sounds

38' - Ebersohn rubs salt into the Cheetahs' now gaping wounds as he lands another penalty to give the Force a 16-3 lead after 38 minutes

35' - Penalty to the Force.

Ominous signs by the visitors. Unless the Cheetahs have a change of attitude - and soon - there's only one winner today...

34' - Clean-outs from the Cheetahs "less than average" says commentator Rob Kempson

32' - The Cheetahs are fun to watch as the spread the ball like filth, going through the phases patiently and racking up the metres gained in the process, but they lack the killer instinct and finishing touches as the Force turn the ball over.

31' - Let-off for the Cheetahs as the Force knock-on at the lineout BUT the Force are then awarded a penalty at the resultant scrum.

Cheetahs coaching duo - and former frontrankers - Naka Drotske and Os du Randt look suitably unimpressed!

30' - The Cheetahs do indeed set up the 5m lineout, but scrappy play by the Cheetahs coupled with excellent 'D' from the visitors sees the Cheetahs bundled into touch on the far touchline

29' - Ebersohn is down hurt and delaying play...

28' - The Cheetahs attack from the restart and go close to scoring their first try, but the Force hang on.

Penalty to the Cheetahs, which I am sure they will kick for touch

25' - And Ebersohn adds the extra two-point conversion from wide out.

Force lead 13-3 after 25 minutes

23' - And this time the try stands as fullback Jayden Hayward goes over in the corner after the Force turn the ball over in their own 22m area

23' - TRY to the Force!

21' - And Ebersohn makes no mistake, doubling the Force's score and giving them a 6-3 lead after 21 minutes

19' - More pressure from the Force sees them awarded a penalty right in front of their posts.

Should be an easy 3 points for Ebersohn...

16' - Try ruled out due to accidently obstruction. Lucky escape by the Cheetahs...

16' - Looks perfectly fine to me... and the TMO disagrees!

15' - But referee Chris Pollock consults his TMO...

15' - TRY to the Force!

14' - The Force now have a chance to attack, but desperate defence by the Cheetahs sees them bundle the attacker into touch.

And then they're awarded a penalty from the resultant lineout

12' - The Cheetahs can do their compatriots - the Bulls in particular - a huge favour today by knocking over the Force...

11' - And this time round Goosen makes no mistake.

The scores are level at 3-3 after 11 minutes

10' - And the Cheetahs are rewarded for their efforts with a penalty inside the Force's 22m area which Goosen will once again take aim for poles

9' - Scrumhalf Sarel Pretorius in the thick of things for the Cheetahs as they swing the ball left and right and back to the left, making good metres each time.

8 - But Goosen's kick is wobbly and generally ugly and away to the left. Missed chance by the home side...

7' - And the reset scrum results in a penalty to the Cheetahs which Johan Goosen will line up at posts

6' - First scrum of the match predictably collapses. No surprise there...

4' - Way better from the Cheetahs from the restart as the Cheetahs attack and go close, but the Force turn the ball over and clear hastily for touch on the halfway line

3' - Ebersohn slots the first PENALTY of the match as the Force take an early 3-0 lead after 3 minutes

1' - Cheetahs pinned deep inside their own half and concede an early penalty right in front which Cheetahs old-boy Sias Ebersohn will kick for posts

0' - Average to poor crowd present and a surprisingly green looking field...

0' - And we're under way in Bloemfontein!

WEATHER FORECAST

4/16 in the City of Roses today - chilly!

DID YOU KNOW?

The Force will be looking for their first win on South African soil since March 2011, when they beat the Lions at Ellis Park...

LOG STANDINGS

As we head into the match, the Cheetahs are currently bottom of both the South African Conference and the Overall standings, while the Force find themselves third in the Australian Conference and seventh in the Overall log - some 12 points ahead of the Cheetahs having played two FEWER matches!

The Cheetahs will be looking to win for coach Drotske who will be taking charge of his 100th match - second only to Frans Ludeke of the Bulls in terms on matches in charge

Bad start to the weekend from a SA point of view with the Lions losing to the Highlanders and the Sharks going down to the Brumbies.

Will Naka Drotske's men give us something to smile about?
