MAN-OF-THE-MATCH

Sharks flank Marcell Coetzee played a stellar game... (Gallo Images)

Thanks for tuning in!

The Sharks did not do enough to finish in the Top 2. They finish 3rd on the overall log and will play a playoff game against the Highlanders in Durban next week.

The Sharks were also officially crowned as South African Conference winners!

FULL-TIME: Stormers 10-34 Sharks

The Sharks have won this game with 34% ball!

Terrific defence from the Durbanites. This win will stand them in good stead for the playoffs!

80'- TRY to the Sharks!

Replacement scrumhalf Ungerer pounces on yet another dropped Stormers ball and sprints 50m to score in the corner.

Zeilinga attempts a quick drop conversion, but misses as the hooter sounds.

79'- One last Stormers scrum just inside the Sharks half. They're unlikely to score...

77'- Sharks subs: Ungerer on for McLeod and Zeilinga on for Steyn.

76'- CONVERSION by Steyn.

Stormers 10-29 Sharks

75'- Try to the Sharks!

Sibusiso Sithole scores a brilliant try under the posts. It started from a lineout on halfway, before Chavhanga broke through after taking an inside pass and then off-loading to Sithole.

74'- Stormers running out of ideas as Schreuder kicks possession away inside Sharks territory...

73' -Sharks sub: Cooper on at hooker for Bismarck du Plessis.

71'- Stormers subs: Schreuder on at scrumhalf for Groom and Senatla on for Taute.

70'- 44% of the game in the second half has been played inside the Sharks 22m area. And no points conceded!

The day is not far off that a ref is going to say to Bismarck. "I've had enough of you, off you go!" - Dan Retief

69'- Simply no way through for the Stormers. They've had 67% possession, but the Sharks are now into the "finals rugby" mood.

66'- Sharks sub: Herbst on at prop for Du Toit

66'- Relentless Stormers attack on the Sharks line now, but the visitors are holding firm. They're defending now like they did against the Crusaders in Christchurch earlier this year.

64'- Stormers sub: Carizza on for Botha

63'- Sharks sub: Deysel on for Kankowski

63' - Oh wait, Jaco Peyper says he differs. He penalises Burger for leading with the shoulder. Not sure I agree with that...

63'- Yet another Sharks turnover close to their own line. Marcell Coetzee has been immense here tonight!

The Stormers are getting frustrated and the referee wants to check for foul play. But it appears nothing more than hand-bags... The TMO agrees with me.

60'- The Stormers are trying hard to get points, but the Sharks defence seems to strong. The Stormers are not a side renowned for chasing games in any case...

57'- And then a penalty from the subsequent scrum relieves pressure on the Sharks...

56'- Outstanding defence from the third driving maul by the Stormers forces a turnover...

56'- Back-to-back penalties after the Sharks twice collapse a Stormers driving maul. Official warning to the Sharks.

54'- Sharks sub: Lourens Adriaanse on for Jannie du Plessis.

54'- A brilliant touch-finder from Grant gives the Stormers an attacking lineout inside the Sharks 22...

PICTURE

JP Pietersen came off second best after a clash of heads with Duane Vermeulen... (Gallo Images)

48'- An error from Chavhanga, who kicks out directly into touch to give the Stormers a lineout in Sharks territory. Chavhanga is still on for Pietersen, who left the field after a clash of heads with Vermeulen.

45'- Also good to see that referee Jaco Peyper has given Jannie du Plessis a warning for his constant back-chatting...

44'- Stormers sub: Grant on for Coleman. Last game for Grant, who's off to France.

44'- PENALTY slotted by Steyn.

Stormers 10-22 Sharks

43'- A Sharks penalty after the Stormers infringe at a driving maul... Steyn to line up.

42'- Good work from Sharks fullback SP Marais. First he successfully catches his own high ball, then a clever chip in behind the Stormers defence puts the hosts under pressure.

40'- Immediately a penalty for the Sharks as a Stormers tackler fails to roll away...

20:10 - Coleman starts proceedings in the second half.

20:09 - Welcome back for the second half! Siya Kolisi has replaced Duane Vermeulen for the Stormers.

In-studio SuperSport commentator Nick Mallett says Bismarck du Plessis had no business complaining to the referee about the the Stormers scored in the first half. He wanted referee Jaco Peyper to consult the TMO.

"He can be lucky it wasn't referred because he comes in from the side and would probably have received a yellow card for that," says Mallett.

39'- A penalty in range for the Stormers after Jannie du Plessis is caught off-side advancing in front of a kick by McLeod...

38'- CONVERSION by Steyn.

Stormers 10-19 Sharks

37'- TRY to the Sharks!

Paul Jordaan scores for the Sharks after a brilliant bit of opportunism from McLeod, who harassed Groom at the back of the scrum. Groom kicked it back to his flyhalf under pressure before the Sharks kicked ahead for Jordaan to chase, which he duly did. The TMO ruled the grounding was fine.

36'- Error by the Sharks as Steyn kicks the ensuing kick-off directly into touch...

35'- That penalty takes Coleman over 50 points for the season in his 9th game.

35'- PENALTY slotted by Coleman.

Stormers 10-12 Sharks

28'- Steyn slots the long-range PENALTY.

Stormers 7-12 Sharks

27'- Another Sharks penalty in range when Rhodes takes Lewies out in the air at a lineout. Official warning now for the Stormers. Too many infringements.

25'- Willem Alberts is now back from the sin-bin.

25'- PENALTY slotted by Steyn.

Stormers 7-9 Sharks

24'- A Sharks penalty just inside the Stormers half when Coleman is isolated and holds on too long. Good work on the ground from McLeod.

21'- PENALTY slotted by Steyn.

Stormers 7-6 Sharks

20'- Sharks penalty right in front of the uprights as the Stormers are caught off-side...

18'- Not surprisingly, Duane Vermeulen is easily back to his feet.

18'- Pietersen is off for a concussion test. Tonderai Chavhanga replaces him.

18'- Ouch! JP Pietersen is knocked down after clashing heads with Duane Vermeulen at the ensuing kick-off. The referee immediately halts play...

17'- It has to be noted that it was strange that Peyper did not consult the TMO. It didn't seem a clear try.

17'- CONVERSION by Coleman.

Stormers 7-3

15'- TRY to the Stormers!

Nizaam Carr goes over for the Stormers after a dominant driving maul following a lineout.

The decision was not referred upstairs, much to the dismay of Sharks skipper Bismarck du Plessis...

13'- YELLOW CARD

Willem Alberts is sent off for 10 minutes for cynically kicking the ball away after a Stormers penalty. Stupid...

12'- A kickable penalty for the Stormers after the Sharks fail to roll away on the ground. The Stormers opt for a lineout... strange decision. It would have been a tough kick, but certainly not out of Coleman's range...

10'- The Stormers scrum putting some early pressure on the Sharks here...

Schalk Burger had a very good point .. that type of clean out happens all the time with no sanction selectiveapplication - Jonathan Kaplan

6' - TMO CALL

However, there's a TMO call for Tiaan Liebenberg coming in at the ruck, without arms and in from the side.

The penalty is turned around!

Stormers captain Schalk Burger is not happy with referee Jaco Peyper...

6' - Easy kickable penalty for the Stormers after Marcell Coetzee is caught coming in from the side...

DID YOU KNOW?

The Sharks' biggest win over the Stormers at Newlands was a 36-10 massacre in 2007. They're aiming for even more tonight...

4'- PENALTY slotted by Steyn.

Stormers 0-3 Sharks

3'- Another kickable penalty in range for the Sharks. It's in front, about 35m out again...

1'- Steyn's penalty attempt is away to the left...

1' - A kickable penalty to the Sharks following a Stormers indiscretion at lineout time. Frans Steyn will line up from about 35m out, 20m in field...

19:10 - And we're under way here at Newlands. Frans Steyn gets the game started!

19:09 - The Sharks get a frosty reception on a chilly winter's evening at Newlands!

LATE CHANGE TO SHARKS TEAM

Scrumhalf Cobus Reinach has pulled out injured. He is replaced by Charl McLeod in the starting team, with Stefan Ungerer coming in on the bench.

After the Crusaders' 34-8 bonus point win over the Highlanders earlier today, it will take a Herculean effort by the Sharks to deny the Crusaders second spot on the log.

The Sharks need to beat the Stormers by a 35-point margin and pick up a bonus point if they are to sneak into second place.

That won't happen. Jake White's men must just focus on getting the win to go into their playoff game next week with some confidence. That game would be against the Highlanders.
