Quite simply a game of two halves. The Stormers showed great character to fight back and completely dominate the second half. Refereeing decision went against them and they can perhaps rightly say it cost them the game.

The Stormers at least earn a well-deserved losing bonus point for their efforts, while the Hurricanes remain unbeaten after seven games and sit comfortably atop the standings.

HALF-TIME: Hurricanes 25-3 Stormers
03 Apr 09:24

40'- CONVERSION by Barrett.

  • 80'

It is all over in Wellington as the Hurricanes win a breakdown penalty and boot the ball out from it. What a game that was. Thanks for joining us. Next up we have the Rebels vs Reds.

  • 79'

One last chance for the Stormers as they pack down on their own ten-metre line. 30 seconds remain so it's now or never for the visitors. The 'Canes have not scored in this second-half.

  • 77'

The Hurricanes will be delighted with this rare territory they are enjoying right now. They pick and go in the Stormers 22, with the clock ticking down in Wellington. Dying embers time here.

  • 75'

PENALTY, STORMERS, COLEMAN. 25-20. Brilliant kick from the replacement fly-half from about 45 metres out to bring the Stormers within five points and also into bonus-point territory.

  • 72'

The 'Canes survive for the second time in close succession as it's Perenara pouncing at ruck time that saves his side 20 out. Mitchell throws in on his own ten-metre from the clearance.

  • 68'

Kurt Coleman and Frans Malherbe come on for Catrakilis and Koch respectively as the Stormers maul on, 35 metres out. Unfortunately for them they knock-on which foils that attack.

  • 66'

  • 65'

TRY, STORMERS, JONES. 25-15. There it is at the second time of asking. Vermeulen's offload to Jones sees him cross wide out so we suddenly have a game on our hands here.

  • 63'

Unfortunate for centre Jones as he picked the ball up at the tail of a ruck and then dotted down from close range. The referee though adjudged him to be offside though so it remains 25-10.

  • 62'

But it's all Stormers again now with the visitors setting up camp just five metres out. Can they close the gap with one of their powerful runners crashing over?

  • 60'

Mbonambi will be relieved to see Hill knock-on on the Stormers 22, so that 'Canes attack ends before it gains any momentum. Still three scores separating the two teams in Wellington then.

  • 57'

But not straight from Mbonambi at the line-out costs the away side 30 metres from the Hurricanes line so it's a let-off for the hosts, who have not threatened at all in this second-half.

  • 56'

Bongi Mbonambi and Ruan Botha come on for Ntubeni and Carizza after the Stormers are penalised for 'changing lanes' during a driving maul. Burger looks perplexed as the 'Canes escape their own 22 but it's not for long as the visitors return.

  • 53'

Plenty of penalties racking up against the Hurricanes and the referee will have a word with Conrad Smith here. Meanwhile, Catrakilis punts the ball into the corner. It's a superb kick.

  • 50'

  • 49'

PENALTY TRY, STORMERS. 25-8. A change to mention as Van Wyk is off, replaced by Jonny Kotze. But it's the forwards who make the impact here after they win a penalty try at scrum time. A much-needed score for the Stormers.

  • 46'

The Stormers have more territory and ball here as they throw eight metres from the Hurricanes try-line. They now receive a penalty for side entry so this will go into the corner once again.

  • 43'

A positive start from the Stormers but that ends when Rhodes fumbles five metres out. Something to build on there though.

  • 41'

Catrakilis restarts the game before Barrett clears to halfway.

  • 40'

  • 40'

    Half-time: Hurricanes 25-3 Stormers

  • 39'

TRY, HURRICANES, BARRETT. 23-3. Unbelievable. Turnover ball in their own 22 sees offload after offload before Nonu and Shields set up Barrett for the finish. That was some try.

  • 38'

Barrett misses the conversion and the Stormers are now keen to respond before the break. They are 20 metres from the line.

  • 37'

TRY, HURRICANES, SAVEA. 18-3. Milner-Skudder is again the threat as this time he goes down the left before setting up Savea for the score. The TMO says the pass is fine. Big try.

  • 35'

From the sublime to the ugly as Stormers fly-half Catrakilis' kick downfield rolls all the way dead in-goal. Big opportunity coming up for the Hurricanes as half-time nears.

  • 32'

Milner-Skudder is having a dream of a game as he breaks out from his 22 well over halfway before Perenara and then Savea fumble. It's now a scrum to the Stormers. What a run though.

  • 30'

Brayden Mitchell also makes an appearance off the bench as Matu'u goes to the blood-bin. It's a 'Canes scrum on their 22.

  • 29'

Vito is off with an ice pack on his calf so on comes Adam Hill. He packs down for a Stormers scrum on the 'Canes ten-metre.

  • 28'

  • 27'

TRY, HURRICANES, MILNER-SKUDDER. 11-3. The 'Canes are over after Barrett's cross-kick leads to Savea flicking the ball back inside via his boot to the full-back, who grounds it.

  • 26'

It has opened up once again in Wellington with the end result seeing the Hurricanes sending a penalty on halfway up to the Stormers' 22. Can the hosts make this opportunity count?

  • 22'

Wow that's a shocker from Barrett out of hand as from another penalty, this time on halfway, he misses touch. Scrum back to the Stormers then with plenty of width on offer.

  • 20'

PENALTY, HURRICANES, BARRETT. 6-3. Brilliant link play from the hosts as an attack started by Perenara on halfway leads to the Stormers coming offside further downfield. Barrett makes no mistake from a relatively simple position.

  • 17'

Kolisi is back on the field now but his side has some defending to do here, with Jane and Broadhurst combining well down the left wing. However, the final pass to Goodes isn't held so it's a Stormers defensive scrum coming up.

  • 15'

PENALTY, STORMERS, CATRAKILIS. 3-3. We're level.

  • 13'

They don't get to use them though as Goodes is penalised at that scrum so up steps Catrakilis from 40 out, bang in front.

  • 12'

A couple of fumbles now which results in the Stormers putting in on the 'Canes ten-metre, centre-field. Several options here.

  • 10'

PENALTY, HURRICANES, BARRETT. 3-0. There's the first points of the game as Barrett slots one from wide on the left.

  • 8'

It's Hurricanes ball on the Stormers 22 and it results in Burger going off his feet. One late change to the visitors' line-up that needs mentioning is that Juan de Jongh was a late withdrawal as Huw Jones comes in for him in the outside centre jersey.

  • 7'

Side entry from the Stormers soon after though so it's another chance for the Hurricanes to clear, which they do. Meanwhile, Siya Kolisi has gone off for the concussion test. Michael Rhodes is on.

  • 6'

Hurricanes scrum on the edge of their own 22. It's inside so Barrett can clear directly out should he choose to. But hang about, despite going backwards the Stormers win it against the head!

  • 4'

Such an open start in Wellington as the Stormers express themselves early. However, will that suit the Hurricanes?

  • 2'

Here we go then with Barrett kicking off before Franks takes out the number nine, which means Demetri Catrakilis is given time to clear via a penalty. They get over halfway soon after.

  • 0'

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Super Rugby clash between the table-topping Hurricanes and the Stormers.

  • 0'

Ma'a Nonu will play his 150th Super Rugby game this weekend while Beauden Barrett, Julian Savea and prop Ben Franks return from a break. Nehe Milner-Skudder also comes back into the starting line-up at full-back for Jason Woodward while Motu Matu'u continues in Dane Coles' absence.

  • 0'

The Stormers make just two changes to their XV as Springbok forward pair Vermeulen and Etzebeth start at number eight and lock respectively.
