Kings go 'all black' at home

Cape Town - The Kings revealed that they will wear an all black strip when playing at home in this year's Super Rugby competition.

According to Die Burger's website, the team will change to an all white strip for away matches.

They will wear their new jerseys for the first time when they open their Super Rugby campaign against the Force in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, February 23.

This change in jerseys sees a shift away from the traditional red and black hoops worn by Eastern Province.

In upcoming warm-up games against the Lions in Johannesburg (Saturday) and Griquas in Port Elizabeth (Wednesday), the team will, however, still sport its old colours.

The game at Ellis Park on Saturday has been dubbed by many as a 'grudge' match with the Kings facing the team they replaced in this year's Southern Hemisphere showpiece.

But their director of rugby, Alan Solomons, has dismissed the talks.

"This game has nothing to do with who has the right to play Super Rugby. It's a warm-up game for the Southern Kings as part of our preparations for our debut in Super Rugby against the Western Force, nothing more," said Solomons.
