Kings' Vleis cleared to play

Port Elizabeth - The Kings have announced that flank Jacques Engelbrecht has been cleared for selection for the game against the Cheetahs at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, while centre Andries Strauss’ shoulder injury has shown remarkable improvement.

Director of Rugby Alan Solomons said Engelbrecht, who came off the field in the 49th minute against the Waratahs on May 4, following an ankle sprain, was fit for selection for the afternoon match.

“Jacques took full part in training today and has been cleared for selection by the medical team,” Solomons said.

However, Strauss, who injured his shoulder in the Kings' last match against the Highlanders on May 11 was still in recovery, but making significant headway according to Solomons.

“Andries also took part in training today, although it was just a light training session, and we are hopeful that he will be ready for the game, although we will only make a final decision about his inclusion tomorrow after a more intensive training session,” he said.
