Kaplan to ref Bloem derby

Cape Town - SANZAR have released the appointments for the coming weekend's Round 13 Super Rugby action, as well as the penultimate week before the 2012 Super Rugby season breaks for the June Test series.

Referee appointments for Rounds 13 and 14

Mark Lawrence will oversee the opening fixture for Week 13, between the Hurricanes and Brumbies in Wellington, the first of three straight New Zealand Conference hosted matches for the round.

Keith Brown will referee the opening Australian Conference match between the Reds and Lions at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday.

Experienced official Jonathan Kaplan will control proceedings in the sole South African Conference derby of the round, with the Cheetahs hosting the Sharks on Saturday at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

SANZAR Game Manager Lyndon Bray said the appointments were considered based on the fact that the competition was moving into the business end of the season.

“As the competition starts to tighten up at the top of the ladder, the referees have been carefully appointed for the next couple of weeks of action,” he said.

“The form of the referee team has been taken into account, for what are some very important match ups over the next two weeks.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
