Jantjies back in starting XV

Johannesburg - After making way for Springbok Butch James the previous week, Lions flyhalf Elton Jantjies is back in the starting line-up for Saturday’s Super Rugby encounter with the Highlanders in Dunedin.

James retained his place in the run-on team where he will take over at inside centre from skipper Doppies la Grange who will be wearing the number 13 jersey this week.

Lions coach John Mitchell decided to deploy Dylon des Fountain at wing in the place of Lionel Mapoe after his tour was cut short because of a facial injury in last week’s 29-12 loss against the Waratahs.

Regular wing Michael Killian has arrived with the team after receiving a late call-up, but will start from the bench.

  • gooinat - 2011-05-25 10:44

I quite like the idea of Jantjies,James and Doppies, could be interesting!!!!!!!

  • Grunk - 2011-05-25 10:44

Well let's face it - Butch didn't show anything else other than to show everybody (including the referees) that he's not lost his touch for filthy tackling. Jantjies may not be the biggest player in the world but he's got a lot of skills - and generally will stay on the field 10 minutes longer than James.

I am surprised that Deon Van Rensberg gets a start, he did nothing last weekend besides loose the game for the Lions ????

      RobinHood - 2011-05-25 11:22

Isn't he just the most incompetant amongst this motley crew?

  • Spinnie - 2011-05-25 10:52

Drop Doppies! Hollenbach is a way better outside centre and was looking good.

      RobinHood - 2011-05-25 11:23

They actually won when Doppies was not playing........

      Johan - 2011-05-25 11:25

      Amen !!

Any idea when Waylon will be back in the mix?

  • ikilladabull - 2011-05-25 11:47

A few weeks ago everybody was calling for Doppies to be a bok, now he's chopped liver. Why so fickle?

      Draconian - 2011-05-25 15:08

Like i said previous, how is it so possible to play out of your skin in one game & play like a bunch of lost school boys in another? go figure! So fickle? I think not.

Does not really matter - the end result will be the same; another hiding for the Lions
