Jake: Oz Conference weakest

Canberra - Speaking to Darren Scott in an interview with Ballz Visual Radio, former Springbok and current Brumbies coach Jake White has admitted that Australia has the weakest conference, but defended the Super Rugby Conference system.

“There is no doubt that Australia has the weakest five teams now as a conference,” White said, but suggested that the situation might change in the future.

“People forget that a couple of years ago South African teams were languishing at the bottom of the Super Rugby table. To be fair, I think it goes in cycles.”

White went on to point out that the Rebels' recent victory over the Crusaders and the Reds' win over the Chiefs proved that Australian teams were competitive in Super Rugby.

White also expressed hope that the Lions would shock the Reds this weekend to improve his team’s chances of topping their conference.

“I would love the Lions to pull off a win against the Reds to help the Brumbies,” White admitted.
