JJ receives off-field yellow
Pretoria - JJ Engelbrecht of the Bulls has been issued with a citing commissioner warning (CCW) for contravening Law 10.4 (e) dangerous tackling during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.
The incident occurred in the 26th minute of the match between the Bulls and Stormers played at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on 14 February 2015 when Engelbrecht made contact with Stormers' No. 9 Nic Groom.
In this case the referee for the match, Jaco Peyper, acted upon the incident by awarding a penalty. Upon further review of the match footage, the citing commissioner deemed a CCW was appropriate.
A CCW may be issued by the SANZAR citing commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.
A player who has received three yellow cards or three CCW (or any combination thereof) in the same Super Rugby competition shall be required to appear before the Duty Judicial Officer appointed for the match during which he last offended.
The duty judicial officer is to consider the circumstances in which each yellow card and/or CCW was imposed and determine whether any further penalty should be imposed on him by reason of his persistent foul play.
