Injury sees Bryce called up

2012-02-17 09:09

Cape Town - There has been a forced change to the referee appointments for the opening round of the 2012 Super Rugby season.

New Zealand referee Garratt Williamson suffered a hamstring injury during the week and will be unable to oversee the Brumbies v Western Force match at Canberra Stadium on February 24.

SANZAR Game Manager Lyndon Bray has announced that Bryce Lawrence will now referee that game - which opens the Australian Conference.

Pathetic to have to opt for such a disgraceful crook. Are not enough referees than can actually apply the rules anymore?

  • Burtfred - 2012-02-17 09:22

I wouldn't let lawrence ref a tiddlywinks game.

  • Lionel - 2012-02-17 09:24

Was so hoping he would be injured, pull a muscle in the brain or something.......how stupid of me,he does not have one!!!!!

  • Michelle - 2012-02-17 09:30

As long as he ain't coming here or reffing our games...oh wait, he probably will :(

  • chiepner - 2012-02-17 09:59

O Dear - two Aussie teams having a full on free for all - what shall Bryce do - o wait - NOTHING!

  • Jay-Jay - 2012-02-17 10:16

this moan andgroan about bryce can really stop now. Yes he had one of his worst games that day but its rdiculous and arrogant to keep on blaming him for something we all knew would happen. The boks lost the world cup as soon as it started. They had quite a few oppertunities to win that game but could'nt. Move on and be sure, just as you would not allow him to handle a game in this country, I'll be there to support him.

      Philip - 2012-02-17 11:52

He has never blown a good game. Go look at the S15 games he handled last year! He is an incompetent twat and if you believe otherwise you know nothing about the game.

      Grant - 2012-02-17 12:40

@jay-jay... Idiots are ALLOWED to support him. Support away ;)

      Martin - 2012-02-17 17:58

jay you are an idiot to even say what you have obviously you have no rugby knowledge, did you even watch the world cup, i hope you dont live in this country, as if bryce is brave enough to ref here. he will have to get bodyguards.

      gavin.simpson.0 - 2012-02-20 06:24

Jay-Jay, I couldn't agree more. It seems for most people it's always easier to blame someone else than face the facts, i.e. the Springboks one dimensional game-plan cost us the game... they had no other options on the day... etc. The bulls for example, should never have won their first super title after a blatant knock on.... no do those supporters still dis the ref? That would be a tad inconvenient for them now wouldn't it. Build a bridge..... we lost. blaming the ref does forever will not change that.

  • Steve - 2012-02-17 11:06

Well I think they should make him honorary Australian for his performance against the boks in last years world cup! and give him a flock of sheep to bone!

  • Kevin - 2012-02-17 11:38

Have Sanzar not got any standards?

      Dok - 2012-02-17 20:48

No standards! No backbone and no honor!

  • Johan - 2012-02-17 11:43

But they are both Australian?? How is Bryce going to choose who to give the game to?

      Grant - 2012-02-17 12:42

Whoever pays more!! The REAL question, is what's worth more to him: a few thousand dollars, or some bum-action...

      Steve - 2012-02-17 13:40

go for the draw on superbru!

      Paul - 2012-02-17 16:08

Whichever team is the least threatening to the NZ sides!

      Dok - 2012-02-17 20:49

Depending on which sheep is the more presentable being given to him!

  • Philip - 2012-02-17 11:49

He likes letting aussie teams win. What's the tosser gonna do in this one...blow for a draw?

  • Heiku - 2012-02-17 12:28

Imagine playing monopoly with Bryce Lawrence... I think i'll end up with murder charges

  • Zion - 2012-02-20 06:47

What is certain is the Australians will definitely win the game.

  • Tom - 2012-03-07 10:20

We all know Bryce favours Australia... so should be a pointlessly fair game!
