Hurricanes win NZ derby

Cape Town - The Hurricanes beat the Blues in their Vodacom Super Rugby New Zealand derby in Wellington on Friday.

The Hurricanes won 39-20 after trailing 17-13 at half-time.

The Hurricanes scored five tries through centres Alapati Leiua and Conrad Smith, scrumhalf TJ Perenara, wing Julian Savea and replacement prop Motu Matu'u. Flyhalf Beauden Barrett was on target with four conversions as well as two penalties.

The Blues replied with a try by wing George Moala as well as a penalty try. Chris Noakes and Benji Marshall each landed a conversion and a penalty.

The Hurricanes picked up a full-house of five points for their victory and moved to second in the New Zealand Conference and fifth in the Overall standings.

The Blues left empty-handed and remained bottom of the New Zealand Conference and 11th in the Overall log.

In next weekend's Round 11 action, the Hurricanes welcome the Reds to Wellington (Saturday, April 26 at 09:35), while the Blues host the Waratahs in Auckland (Friday, April 25 at 07:35).
