Hurricanes name squad for SA

Wellington - The Hurricanes have named a 25-man squad to face the Stormers and Lions in the opening two weekends of this year's Super Rugby tournament.

Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett selected a near full-strength squad as only two players will miss the away fixtures because of injury.

Scrumhalf Chris Smylie and South African-born prop Reg Goode are sidelined after the 23-19 pre-season win over the Chiefs on Friday and will remain home.

All Blacks centre Conrad Smith will captain the team.

The Hurricanes will face the Stormers (Saturday, February 25) and Lions (Friday, March 2) in the opening fortnight of Super Rugby, before tackling the Force in Perth (Friday, March 9) on the road.
