Pretoria - The impressive 18 match winning streak the Bulls enjoyed at Loftus Versfeld ended on Saturday night when the Highlanders powered their way to a 35-28 victory over the defending champions.
Control at the breakdowns allowed the visiting side to control the match and in doing so, they managed to secure a bonus point for the four tries they scored.
While the Bulls will be hugely disappointed in their performance, credit must go to the men from Dunedin for the manner in which they starved the home side of possession throughout the match.
As anticipated, the Bulls staged their traditional fight back but were held out thanks to some brave defending.
The Bulls have a bye next week before taking on the Lions at home in a fortnight.
