Cape Town - The Highlanders got back to winning ways after two successive defeats when the beat the Hurricanes in their New Zealand Vodacom Super Rugby derby at Rugby Park in Invercargill on Friday.
The Highlanders won 13-6 after leading 10-3 at half-time.
The Highlanders scored the only try of the match through fullback Ben Smith, while flyhalf Lima Sopoaga was successful with the conversion and two penalties.
The Hurricanes replied with two penalties by No 10 Aaron Cruden.
The Highlanders picked up four points for their victory, but stayed third in the New Zealand Conference and seventh in the overall standings.
The Hurricanes picked up a point for losing by seven or fewer points, and remained last and 12th in the New Zealand Conference and overall log, respectively.
In next weekend's Week 14 action, the Highlanders and Hurricanes both have byes.
