Pretoria - Former Bulls guru Heyneke Meyer is set to be announced as the current Super Rugby champions' new rugby boss on Wednesday.
On Monday, the Blue Bulls Company scheduled a news conference to announce a number of appointments, the biggest of which should be the return of Meyer as the Bulls' rugby head.
It is believed that Meyer will be appointed as head of rugby.
Elsewhere the position is known as director of rugby and it will give Meyer the reins to strengthen the Bulls and Blue Bulls' claim to being recognised as the best teams in the country.
Meyer has been involved at the Bulls for the past year or so following his return from England, but was predominantly charged with getting the structures in the union right and the training of coaches.
Just as was the case when the Bulls won the Super Rugby title for the first time in 2007, Meyer will now again be the man in the saddle. Frans Ludeke will still be the head coach of the Bulls in the Super Rugby tournament, but will work closer with Meyer.
They are big friends and have worked together at several levels in rugby, so the step is not expected to have any negative repercussions.
Sport24 has previously reported that Pine Pienaar, who previously coached Free State's Vodacom Cup and under-21 teams, will throw in his weight at the Blue Bulls. His appointment and that of former Tukkies coach Nollis Marais as under-21 coach are expected to be among the announcements.
