Habana out of Crusaders clash

Cape Town - Bryan Habana's efforts to play himself into contention for Springbok selection have taken a knock as a rib injury has sidelined him for Saturday's Vodacom Super Rugby's top-of-the-table clash against the Crusaders at Newlands.

Last week Habana was forced to leave the field after taking a blow to the rib cage in the Sharks match.

He's been out of form this season, but on Saturday there were signs that he could soon be back to his best and reclaim his spot as a first-choice for the Boks.

He has been replaced by the promising right-wing Johann Sadie who has been in impressive form on the few occasions that he's had a run for the Stormers.

However, Saturday will mark his debut in a starting XV.

The prolific boot of flyhalf Peter Grant will also play no part in the match as he too is out in the cold as his troublesome knee has yet to heal.

This means that rookie pivot Lionel Cronje will marshall the backline.

Kurt Coleman, who made his Stormers debut in the closing stages of the match against the Sharks last week, will be the back-up flyhalf.

An interesting inclusion on the substitutes' bench is Tiaan Liebenberg who replaces reserve hooker Ethienne Reynecke.

Liebenberg showed last week in a Vodacom Cup outing that he has recovered fully from the knee injury which kept him out of the game for the past nine weeks.

The Crusaders have also been hit hard by the injury bogey and as a result will be without five All Blacks in pivot Dan Carter, prop Ben Franks, scrumhalf Andy Ellis, locks Brad Thorn and Sam Whitelock.
