Cape Town - Peter Grant looks set to wear the Stormers' No 10 jersey ahead of Gary van Aswegen for their match against the Blues at Newlands next weekend.
Die Burger reports that Grant should start against the New Zealanders. The Capetonians have a bye this week after winning their opening two matches at home against the Hurricanes and the Sharks.
Grant was instrumental in their victory over the Sharks last week and also kicked a last-gasp touchline penalty to claim a 15-12 victory.
"The Blues have unbelievable rush-defence which will put a lot of pressure on an inexperienced flyhalf. We will study their defence and playing style and make a decision accordingly," said Stormers coach Allister Coetzee.
"Bash (Grant) is a hardened player. With that I also want to mention that Gary (van Aswegen) showed improvement against the Sharks. It’s good to know that we've got him, Bash and Burton Francis."
Meanwhile, the Stormers are also under a bit of pressure on the attacking front after lacklustre efforts there against the Hurricanes and the Sharks.
"We're not running straight enough when attacking. It's something we'll look at. Hopefully we can from now on pick the same backline every week which will help with continuity," said Stormers backline coach Robbie Fleck.
However, Coetzee said defence will remain the cornerstone of their game.
"We'll still be better off if we score fewer tries, but in the process not concede any," he said.
