Cape Town - Cheetahs flyhalf Johan Goosen has been ruled out for four months after he injured his shoulder while scoring a try during the Cheetahs' 33-36 loss to the Highlanders in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
He was stretchered off and watched with agony as his side squandered a 30-9 second half lead.
The 19-year-old Goosen confirmed the news on Sunday via his Facebook profile, confirming he will play no further part in the Cheetahs’ Super Rugby campaign.
“Thanks for all the messages, appreciate it! I am out for four months,” Goosen posted.
Not only will this rule him out of possible selection for the Springboks' upcoming three-Test series against England in June, but it also leaves SA under-20 coach Dawie Theron with a headache after he earlier this week included the flyhalf in his team for the IRB Junior World Championships in June.
Goosen is the leading points scorer in Super Rugby this year with 145 points, 17 more than Bulls flyhalf Morne Steyn.
