Durban - Lubabalo "Giant" Mtyanda will make his Super Rugby debut for the Sharks when they host the Lions in a Super Rugby clash at Kings Park on Saturday.

It is one of a handful of changes to the team that lost 35-29 at home to the Cheetahs last weekend.

The Sharks also welcome back skipper Bismarck du Plessis after he missed last weekend's match due to a shoulder injury.

Director of Rugby, Gary Gold, explaining the rationale in making new selections, told Sharks website editor Michael Marnewick: “Due to injuries, we have had to necessitate a few changes to the team.

“Apart from those injury-enforced changes, we have tried to keep the team as consistent as possible, so that players have another opportunity to get the wrongs of the past weekend right.”

They will have to make do without the likes of wing S’bura Sithole, Mouritz Botha and Beast Mtawarira, but that opens the door of opportunity to wing Odwa Ndungane, debutant lock Mtyanda and prop Dale Chadwick.

Two very exciting young talents in Thomas du Toit and Andre Esterhuizen come onto the bench for this week’s match.

Kick-off for Saturday’s clash is scheduled for 19:10.
