Force hold off Highlanders

Cape Town - The Force have beaten the Highlanders in their bottom of the table Super Rugby clash in Perth on Saturday.

In a largely forgettable match, the Force won 19-18 after leading 10-6 at half-time.

The Force scored the only try of the match through flyhalf Sias Ebersohn, while fullback Jayden Hayward was on target with the conversion as well as four penalties.

The Highlanders replied with four penalties by replacement flyhalf Colin Slade and two from Hayden Parker.

The Force picked up four points for their victory, but stayed bottom of the Australian Conference and 14th in the Overall standings.

The Highlanders picked up a point for losing by seven or fewer points, but remained rooted to last place in both the New Zealand Conference and Overall log.

In next weekend's Round 16 action, the Force will enjoy a bye, while the Highlanders welcome the Blues to Dunedin on Saturday, June 1 at 09:35.
