Flip-ing hell, Bulls lose lock

Pretoria - Bulls lock Flip van der Merwe has been ruled out of the team's Super Rugby clash against the Lions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

Van der Merwe suffered a hip injury against the Sharks in Durban last week, and will not recover in time for the weekend's clash, Bulls team doctor Org Strauss confirmed on Monday.

It will be the last regular Super Rugby clash of the season.

"Flip had a scan on Monday and it confirmed the injury. He will miss a week of rugby," Strauss said.

No other injuries had been reported from the side that travelled to Durban.
