Date set for Ferreira hearing

Cape Town - Cheetahs player Andries Ferreira will appear before a SANZAR judicial hearing after being cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

Ferreira is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (e) Dangerous Tackling. A player must not tackle an opponent dangerously. A tackle around the neck or head of an opponent is dangerous play, when he entered a breakdown to contest for the ball and bound onto Force player Matt Hodgson around the neck.

Ferreira then drove forward through the breakdown and flung Hodgson to the ground so he contacted the ground with his head, neck and shoulder.

The incident occurred in the 76th minute of the match between the Cheetahs and Force at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein on May 5.

The Judicial Officer for the Hearing will be Jannie Lubbe SC which will be held by video conference on Tuesday, May 8 at 14:00 SA time.
