Faingaa out for six months

Sydney - Wallabies and Reds centre Anthony Faingaa will be out of rugby for up to six months after undergoing shoulder surgery, the Australian Rugby Union said on Thursday.

Faingaa, 26, was last week announced in a 40-man Wallabies training squad but he will now miss this month's Rugby Championship and the European tour later in the year following surgery on his right shoulder.

He will target a return to action at the beginning of the 2014 Super Rugby season, the ARU said.

No replacement has yet been named for Faingaa in the Australian training squad, which will assemble for a five-day camp in Sydney on Monday.

New Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie will announce his final squad of up to 30 players on August 9.
