Double blow for Stormers

2012-04-23 07:35

Cape Town - Gio Aplon and Duane Vermeulen are on their way back to Cape Town and will both miss the Stormers' last tour match against the Force in Perth on Saturday. Kick-off is at 11:40 SA time.

Aplon has a hamstring strain and should be available again for the team’s first SA match against the Cheetahs on May 12.

Vermeulen sustained a knee ligament injury late in the game against the Reds and will see a knee specialist in Cape Town for further assessment.

WP flank Don Armand and centre Berton Klaasen will fly to Perth on Monday to join up with the touring group.

Eben Etzebeth (shoulder) is being managed and a call on his availability will only be made at our last training session. Andries Bekker is however expected to make a return to the team this week against the Force.

“Injuries are part of the game” said Stormers coach Allister Coetzee.

“As a squad you have to be able to handle them. It’s something we have spoken about often. This week it’s the Force and regardless who we select, we will need to again be at our best to take the points. It is a big game for us as a win will mean a very successful tour. There is a lot of motivation in this group to achieve that and we will be going all out.”

    Go Force!!!

      uwe.klopfer - 2012-04-23 08:52

@Isak. Just like your stronger breezers team couldn't get past the saders ? Just saying...

      Japjapjap - 2012-04-23 08:57

nee man, dis ni 'n blow ni, weepee-so moeni kommer ni, selfs al kry al 15 van daai blaarslaai bandiete van julle seer, gaan julle nog steeds beter doen op di veld- onthou, hoe minder weepee, hoe beter rugby??

      willie.uys - 2012-04-23 09:02

Tokolos, you must be chewing rocks after this weekend!! The Bulls being sooo lucky to win and the Stormers yet again showing their class even with a depleted team. You are just so "one-eyed" - can't see anything other than the poor Blue Bulls.

      Terence - 2012-04-23 09:11

      'Stormers showing their class'. LMFAO.

      Jonathan - 2012-04-23 09:19

      Idiot

      John - 2012-04-23 09:19

Tokolos - keep it up chump maybe you will call a Stormers game right someday. While you at it send Marius some flowers because he could not see a knock-on when 30 players plus 30,000 spectators plus a TV audience of 1 million plus could.

      erikdemilander - 2012-04-23 09:25

Isak, jy ken jou rugby!! Go Stormers!!

      Terence - 2012-04-23 09:29

John, Tokolos called the Crusaders game.

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 10:32

Willie how did you know Tokolos only had one eye? You are not as stupid as the doctors recon hey!

      1amAlan - 2012-04-23 13:36

Law of averages Terence, you keep saying Stormers lose, one day they do and you count yourself a fortuneteller. How many games so far, and he's only called one right.

      Lance - 2012-04-24 11:32

Tokolos...is an under-cover Cape All Black fan who pretends to be a biff Bulls boykie....If Im wrong his lack of national support is my reason I assumed. A true fearless Bull fan will hope that the Stormers win so that they can have another chance at battle(by maybe beating them) with the Stormers..A fearful supporter will wish for his no1 enemy to be knocked out...before his favourite team is forced to meet them again...and risk losing again. As a Stormer and South African I honestly wish the Bulls everything of the best on tour.....so that we can meet again in the final,

  • Lionel - 2012-04-23 07:55

This is a blow but my team will overcome this and beat the Force by 11 points!! Tiaan Liebenberg will more than likely captain the side.Hope a guy like Nizeem Carr gets a run!!!

      Jason - 2012-04-23 08:17

Injuries are hectic at this stage! however it may mean some of our senior Stormers get a decent break during the English Tour! Which by all accounts will be a BlueBok squad!

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 08:21

Week in and week out rugby is taking its toll and we are gonna see more injuries!! As for the Blue Bokke, hope HM stays the hell the way from Spies, jees that guy had a shocker Saturday, his defence was so bad and that from such a big guy!!!!

      Japjapjap - 2012-04-23 09:28

@sakki- dis hierdi "from the bench" speelery, wat ou flou bekker so moeg maak en beseer??

      Desary - 2012-04-23 14:22

  • Grant - 2012-04-23 07:59

Vermeulen and Aplon have been Stormers best players.....Hope Andries Bekker is fit....whoa, injuries mounting now.....the bye week is going to come at thre right time...hope Carr gets a start soon...

      Japjapjap - 2012-04-23 09:30

@grant- weepee moet eers wag, driesie se girlfriend hoop ook hy's nou weer "fit en ready" vir scrum opi bank...??

  • Bootman - 2012-04-23 08:10

Enjoy the break guys. We have the personell to overcome this little setback. Just make sure you're fit for our date with the fairies at fortress dutchman.

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 08:20

Fairy... Another cupless year on the horizon for you silverware deprived people after 2 June I see!!!

      Terence - 2012-04-23 08:27

Yes, you have the ref to overcome this setback.

      Bootman - 2012-04-23 08:37

Terence which ref would that be? We couldnt possibly have bought each and every ref in the competition. I can guarentee you the Ozzie refs will want revenge for Plonkers performance on Saturday, so enjoy your tour.

      Terence - 2012-04-23 08:47

So far it's Craig Joubert, Marius Jonker and Glen Jackson.

      Jed - 2012-04-23 09:02

Tokolos another year not in the Play-offs. Bulls the only team to Lose an entire Super rugby season.

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 09:25

@Blueraven - Loftus: the only place the casting directors of Wrong Turn 5 and The Hills have Eyes 6 can cast all 40 000 'extras' at once.

      Terence - 2012-04-23 09:31

Newlands full of classy supporters, still no cups for 11 years.

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 09:33

Raven, whats up with the almost empty stadium at Loftus????

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 10:03

Big Crowd,oh my word,we get 30 000 plus every game!!!!Last year Bulls handed out free tickets to Soweto to get people in,looks like they heading the same way again this year!!!!

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 10:20

23 000 is not a big crowd @Raven. It is in fact one family, the van der Merwe's from Danville.

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 10:38

Lame @Bluey, Lame? Hehehehehe, my definition of lame: that tackle Spies faked as the Brumbies chap stormed over the line........

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 10:42

Lionel, COSATU get 40 000+ for most their strikes. It does not mean all 40 000 knows what its about now do they? Same goes for Newlands. It's no use you have 30 000 and 29 000 boo the Stompies!!

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 10:43

Saffa Cat.... You better not invite Colgate or Aquafresh to Newlands for an add campaign!

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 10:47

My my Raven but we are touchy this morning:):)

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 10:49

And so the laager forms.......cue: Jaws music or Liefling - you chaps can choose.

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 10:50

@Tokkie - an ADD campaign? Why Tokkie, can Colgate not count? Aquafresh neither????? Oh my soul.......

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 11:04

Saffa Cat... You seriously belong in the kitchen. Mondays are not the best day of the week fo you I gather. A little bit slow, are we? You talk about shooting movies at Loftus... I talk about shooting adds for renown toothpaste manufacturers at Newlands... catch my drift here.

      Bootman - 2012-04-23 12:01

Lionel correction my friend. They didnt hand out tickets to Soweto. They went to Soweto to hand out free tickets to Loftus. They even organised a bus and everything. Who could forget those ridiculous red T Shirts the poor okes had to wear. Last year they were the red bulls, this year the pink bulls and after the Stormers game they will be the black and blue bulls.

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 12:10

My apologies for not commenting correctly,Bootman has it spot on!!!!!!!!!

      Lionel - 2012-04-23 12:32

That tickets were given to residents of Soweto to attend games at Loftus!!!

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 13:10

@Tokkie - then you should have said 'film an AD' - not an ADD? Get it? Dear stars, you didn't get that? Seems as though Mondays are even worse for you old chap.

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 13:15

@Marko - and in ONE, you manage to conform to every preconceived idea of a typical Bulls fan........'supporter profiling' at it's best. I doubt you realise you have said anything offensive though to be perfectly honest...(to be honest, I doubt you have yet been taught to wipe your own @ss...) No wonder the rest of the rugby playing nations akin playing at Loftus to being at a Klu Klux Clan Xmas party.

      Marko - 2012-04-23 13:26

No Saffa, firstly I usually get people like you to whipe my ass for me and secondly you also made a few nasty comments yourself. I suggest you keep your 'INBREAD' comments to yourself and then I will keep mine to myself. So run along and have some more sex with another family member!!!!

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 13:47

@Marko - in the same way you chaps choose to ignore ANY bad behaviour on these forums from fellow Bulls fans, so I have chosen to now ignore any dodgy comments from my fellow Stormer fans. You chaps pull on the 'holier than thou' cloak far too often round here........You fat Marko are possibly the classiest chap I have seen round these parts......Now go and wash your crocs. @Raven - serious issues? I wouldn't call them that - rather a question of taste and class coming to the fore. Would you call yourself one without 'issues'? ****rolls eyes***

      Marko - 2012-04-23 19:34

Yes Blue Raven, no class down in the western cape. It must be all those brandy factories there, then they call the Bulls brandy drinkers. Their problem is also their lack of front teeth. They love making comments but hate it is you comment back. An this moron saffa's comments don't seem to make any sense, I suppose its the lack of brains. He also watches too many Hollywood movies, he's heard of some organisation but can even spell it correctly. Hey SAFFA you idiot is KU KLUX KLAN not clan.

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 10:40

Does the Barberton daisy have the same effect as LSD if one smokes it? Reading what you blue chaps write here certainly leaves one with the impression that it has mind altering qualities.......

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 10:54

Daantjie Kat met die gehiekelde hare... Tokolos is baie gevlei oordat jy sy naam gebruik. Baie dankie. Julle Potch fietas is oor die algemeen tappits. Julle hoort in Stormers truie.

      Danie - 2012-04-23 11:22

Prossies!!! Daantjie kat is seker die main breker daar in tappit valley!

      Franklyn - 2012-04-23 14:30

these Bulls supporters dont need to smoke anything, there is no part of their anatomy that can be affected by cerebral stimulants.

      Tokolos - 2012-04-23 15:24

Ag ou droeë Francina... Wie het jou hok geskud?

      Johan - 2012-04-23 15:40

Go Bulls !

  • Marko - 2012-04-23 12:12

No real loss to me. Looks like these stormers are a team of softies that can't take the punch. Ha ha ha I'm going to enjoy watching them loose against the Force this weekend.

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 13:18

No fat Marko, let me educate you. Softies don't get injured - ever (because they don't tackle or take to the physical stuff much...e.g Steyn, Spies, Basson etc.....)

      Saffa - 2012-04-23 13:18

PSSSSS: How does a team "loose" against opposition?

      Marko - 2012-04-23 14:03

The only thing fat here is your head. This report is about the cripple Stormers you idiot, stick to the story. Obviously you can't, it must be all the TIK you smoke or maybe the lack of front teeth.

      Franklyn - 2012-04-23 14:24

      loose against the opposition..HAHAHAHAA
