Digby Ioane flies back home

Brisbane - Digby Ioane will miss the Reds' match against the Stormers in Cape Town on because of a left knee injury.

The Queensland Rugby Union said on Monday that Ioane, included in Robbie Deans' 25-man Australia squad on the weekend to play the British and Irish Lions, said the soft tissue injury was not considered serious.

Ioane, who sustained the injury in the Reds' 27-13 Super Rugby loss to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last weekend, will fly back to Brisbane to have scans.

The Wallabies were hit by two more serious injuries on the weekend. Veteran Brumbies flank George Smith injured the medial ligament in his left knee and New South Wales hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau broke his right arm. Both are doubtful for the Lions series.
