De Jongh's chance to shine
Cape Town - Juan de Jongh could find himself back in the Stormers starting midfield in this year's Super Rugby competition.GALLERY: SA Super 15 kits unveiled!
The Springbok was a substitute for the latter part of Western Province's Currie Cup campaign last year, with coach Allister Coetzee
opting to pick Damian de Allende as Jean de Villiers's centre partner.
However, a lack of depth at wing could open the door for De Jongh to start in 2014.
Cheslin Kolbe has been ruled out with a knee injury and with Bryan Habana
and Gerhard van den Heever heading overseas, the Stormers' wing stocks appear to be quite low. They are reportedly in search of a big wing to fill the void but no new recent additions have been added.
This could see the big and physical De Allende move to the wing, opening a spot in midfield for De Jongh.
"My focus is to work hard in pre-season and to build my confidence with good performances in the warm-up games," De Jongh told Die Burger's website
The Stormers will play three pre-season games before starting their season-proper against the Lions in Johannesburg on February 22.Stormers' 2014 pre-season fixtures:Saturday, February 1:
