Daniel banned for two weeks

2011-05-10 12:11

Cape Town - Sharks flank Keegan Daniel has been suspended for two weeks after being found guilty of foul play by a SANZAR judicial hearing on Monday.

The suspension is effective until 21 May. The Sharks have a bye this weekend, which means Daniel will miss one match, against the Bulls.

Daniel had been cited for a late and dangerous tackle on Brumbies centre Christian Lealiifano during a Super Rugby match in Durban last Saturday.

The hearing was chaired by SANZAR judicial officer, Jannie Lubbe and was held at the Kwa-Zulu Natal Rugby Union offices in Durban.

Very GOOD. They must OBEY the rules and laws governing the game....

      Rita - 2011-05-10 13:12

where were the citing comittee with the game between Stormers and Sharks, CJ van der Linde, and Schalk Burger should have been cited but because Freek Burger is the CEO the Stormers can do what they want and get away with it.

      Grant - 2011-05-10 13:33

Exactly Rita! WPBEFONK look at your own thugs first!

      Rob van den Heuvel - 2011-05-10 15:07

@Rita - sorry to be the one to tell you but SANZAR citing process is an absolute joke! As Naas says, "Then fix it". SANZAR officials hide behind "the process", why cant the fix it? The public demand answers. Remind me again, why are we part of SANZAR, no wonder our guys apply their trade up north.

      stormers = crusader bitches!!!

      Johan - 2011-05-10 20:27

@jan du preez And what would the sharks and bulls be to the stormers then?

      jan du preeaz - 2011-05-10 20:58

hulle leermeesters hoe om n' groot game te wen my ou, onthou die 2010 finals?

      Johan - 2011-05-10 21:45

at least jean deysel is back...

  • Jurgen - 2011-05-10 12:24

    so much for consistency!

  • Victor Germeshuizen - 2011-05-10 12:28

It's a fair decision. The "tackle" was atrocious, and he could easily have gotten 4 weeks for it. I think his good record saved him here.

  • Cire - 2011-05-10 12:33

He's a lucky boy that it wasn't for longer.

  • Tokozaan - 2011-05-10 12:43

This is nonesense, Daniel's record stands for itself... jeepers

      GraemeBB - 2011-05-10 13:08

Yes Tokozaan - if it were Bakkies, it would be 8 weeks. Daniels is building his record - that is how it works!

  • Met Uysh! - 2011-05-10 12:51

The question is, was it a Red Card offense?

  • Sudza - 2011-05-10 12:57

Why wasn't this Lubber lamb chop at the game against Crusaders and Sharks - SBW would have got the death sentence for his charge on Kankowski...............!!!!!!

      Luckybugger - 2011-05-10 14:30

Maybe Kanko should toughen up, speaking of the Twickenham game, that was the best game this season, 110% hardcore rugga

  • Dan - 2011-05-10 13:59

    Expected and can't really complain.

  • YB Normal - 2011-05-10 14:23

.So good to see that the anti SANZAR brigade continues and you bunch of losing, whining and whinging South Africans are all out of your cages and on form today. I also know it does not help to highlight certain incidents that involved South African players that have not been cited or have got off with a very "light" punishment, as you are all one eyed and biased. But please keep it up as us Kiwi's and our Aussie enemies across the ditch really enjoy the comments and have a laugh at your expense. Also please keep P Div as your coach, we really enjoy him and his accent is so funny! Thanks for the laugh. @SAFFA, congratulations a South African that sees it as it is, we salute you!

      shark4eva - 2011-05-11 12:19

Mickey ...in true South African spirit ...gaan kak in die Kaap boet! now laugh all you want!

  • Howzitekse - 2011-05-11 11:38

Daniel is one of the best loosies in the world, but he would be even better if he focussed more on the ball than the man. Two weeks to reflect will do him the world of good.

  • Carl - 2011-05-12 11:32

The citing committee is very bias. there have been much worse "dangerous play" by NZ sides and nothing happened. The Citing comittee is full of S%#t!!!
