Crusaders roll into playoffs

Cape Town - The Crusaders will head into the Super Rugby playoffs on a high after beating the Hurricanes in a tense all-New Zealand derby in Christchurch on Friday.

The Crusaders won 25-17 after leading 13-5 at half-time.

The Crusaders scored three tries through wings Zac Guildford and Tom Marshall, and scrumhalf Andy Ellis. Flyhalf Dan Carter was on target with two conversions and two penalties.

The Hurricanes replied with tries by No 8 Victor Vito, flank Brad Shields and wing Julian Savea. Replacement Andre Taylor added a conversion.

The Crusaders picked up four points for their victory, to finish second in the New Zealand Conference. They remained fourth in the Overall standings.

The Hurricanes left empty-handed and stayed fourth and 11th in the NZ Conference and Overall log, respectively.
