Crusaders remain bookies' pick

2012-04-24 10:33

Cape Town - Despite their relatively slow start to the 2012 Super Rugby season, bookmakers are backing the Crusaders to win their eighth title come the final on August 4.

After eight matches played, the Crusaders find themselves in third position in the New Zealand Conference, and sixth in the Combined standings, with a 5-3 win-loss record.

Nevertheless, leading SA bookies, Bet.co.za have the Crusaders listed as 26/10 favourites, followed by the Stormers who currently top the South African Conference, at 3/1.

The Chiefs, fresh off their victory against the Sharks in Durban and currently atop the Overall log, are quoted at 4/1, while the Bulls can be backed at 65/10.

The remaining South African teams, the Sharks (19/1), Cheetahs (79/1) and Lions (250/1), are considered outsiders for the title.

      Skhona - 2012-04-24 13:19

Not in cape town raven maybe in new zealand if stormers can perform as if they're playing the bulls I can guarantee you, your crusaders won't come any close

      Charl - 2012-04-24 14:03

Crusaders beaten you last time no Newlands when thay flew frm NZ to sa. and you guys were outplayed. and thay beaten you this season when thay flew from south africa to NZ to play you

      Charl - 2012-04-24 14:19

      mighty bulls? who are thay??

      Charl - 2012-04-24 15:25

how can thay seem to always lose to the bulls in the play-offs if thay hav 7 titels and the "mighty" bulls only 3... maybe it should be mighty Crusaders

      Charl - 2012-04-24 16:06

So the Crusaders havnt won it in 3 years. So what? last year thay played no home games and stil reachd the final. Bulls wernt even in the play offs. Every year the crusaders are in the play-offs. Last year the "mighty" bulls lost 27-0 to the Crusaders. only reason you dont look past the last few years is because you stupid team where no where then.

Crusaders are like barca in champs league, always start as favourites..doeznt mean they gona win it tough ,but still a safe bet to win i.m.o

  • WernerZA - 2012-04-24 15:00

Bulls are good value @6.5, although, I think the saders are the most likely to win.. When Mr Carter and Co kick in, they will be hard to beat, especially @ home...
