Cronje's Stormers tour over

Auckland - Lionel Cronje’s Australasian tour is over after he injured a medial ligament in his knee during the Stormers' 28-26 Vodacom Super Rugby victory over the Blues on Friday.

The Stormers flyhalf will return to Cape Town for treatment to the injury and to assess the full extent of the damage.

Cronje was taken off in the 23rd minute of the match after sustaining the injury and was replaced by scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage.

Despite the backline reshuffle, the Stormers went on to win the match after overturning a 16-point half-time deficit.

The loss of the young flyhalf adds to the Stormers' injury woes after they lost Gary van Aswegen, also to a knee injury, and Peter Grant, who is still recovering from an ankle injury.

The Stormers have yet to name a replacement, but are expected to do so on Monday.
