Cooper hurts knee again

Cape Town - Reds flyhalf Quade Cooper has reportedly re-injured the knee that has kept him out of rugby since last year’s World Cup.

The Courier-Mail in Brisbane reported on Thursday that the Reds playmaker, who had anticipated returning to Super Rugby soon, “tweaked” the knee while playing a game of touch rugby.

He went to a private hospital there on Thursday for scans to ascertain the extent of the latest damage.

The single-minded No 10 had arranged the game after issuing an appeal on Twitter for a place in any “touch” team to aid his rehabilitation.

He has been back in non-contact training with Super Rugby champions the Reds, although young Sam Lane, educated at Bishops in Cape Town, keeps his current spot in the team to play the Stormers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday (11:40).
