Coenie a 'regular bar fighter'

Bloemfontein - Springbok and Cheetahs prop Coenie Oosthuizen, who allegedly assaulted a young man at a bar, was heavily bandaged during a Cheetahs training session on Wednesday.

Oosthuizen allegedly assaulted the man after interfering in a quarrel between patrons at the Barba’s bar in Bloemfontein.

Oosthuizen is said to have told one of the men: “I will p**s you to death.”

The young man and a friend left the bar after Oosthuizen allegedly shoved and threatened him.

According to the friend Oosthuizen followed them outside and landed a blow that floored him.

Oosthuizen then sat on him and continued the beating for bystanders in the street to see, he said.

Several patrons said Oosthuizen often provokes fights at Barba’s.

Michael Horak, Cheetahs assistant coach, would not comment on whether the bandages were nursing a bruised punching hand.

He also declined to comment on whether disciplinary action will be taken against Oosthuizen.

“The allegations are being investigated.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
