Cheetahs switch match venue

Johannesburg - The Super Rugby match between the Cheetahs and the Lions, scheduled to be played in Welkom on April 7, has been moved to Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Cheetahs managing director Harold Verster said on Thursday there were concerns regarding the ability of the North West Stadium to host a capacity crowd.

"We have been working with the local stakeholders for a number of weeks on the relevant safety issues," Verster said.

"Today(Thursday) we decided, after much deliberation, not to host the match at Welkom's North West Stadium.

"We decided the wisest course was to leave nothing to chance and move the match to Bloemfontein."

Verster said supporters who had already bought tickets for the game would be able to obtain a full refund.
