Cheetahs seek attacking edge

Bloemfontein - Cheetahs wing Raymond Rhule says the team will be looking to build their confidence on attack when they tackle the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.

The Cheetahs have named their team to face the 2014 South African conference winners at Kings Park this weekend.

Rhule starts in an exciting back three, along with wing Clayton Blommetjies and fullback Willie le Roux, while Springbok speedster Cornal Hendricks provides depth on the bench.

While the Cheetahs lost their major pre-season friendlies against the Bulls and Stormers, Rhule said the team is raring to go on Saturday.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted. We believe we deserved more, but those games still gave us a good run ahead of the Super Rugby tournament," Rhule told MyPlayers.co.za.

"We have good defensive structures in place, and the forwards really did well at the set pieces. Our only main concern is our ability to hold on to the ball during our attack.

"We can't afford to lose the ball too easily. We need to find our attacking confidence. When the Cheetahs play with confidence, we're a tough team to beat."

Personally, Rhule is looking to help the team achieve their goals this season. He hopes he can make a meaningful contribution, especially on attack.

"I'll be taking things one week at a time, but I'm hoping to make a big difference for the team," said Rhule.

"I'm happy with my performances during the pre-season games, and I'll be hoping to building some good form during Super Rugby."

Saturday’s clash at Kings Park kicks off at 17:05.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
