Cheetahs in attacking mode

Bloemfontein - The Cheetahs will not be in defensive mode for their last Super Rugby home game of the season against the Stormers at Free State Stadium on Saturday.

The home side, according to Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske, will run on to the pitch with the intention of throwing everything but the kitchen sink at a Stormers side that pride themselves on solid defence.

"We want to attack from the get go, but if that doesn't work then we will switch to plan B and start kicking the ball around," Drotske said.

"That's what we will do if we don't gain any momentum from our attack."

Drotske's side are playing for pride, while seeking momentum for the Currie Cup competition.

The Stormers, meanwhile, are in the running for a place in the knockout stages of the competition and will go all out against the Cheetahs.

Aiming to close out the group stage at the top of the combined Super Rugby conference, the visitors will go in search of a bonus point.

"We've been highly motivated for the past 14 weeks," said Stormers coach Allister Coetzee.

"It's all about creating a winning culture within the team. We want to continue that against the Cheetahs."

Stormers captain Jean de Villiers said the Cape outfit were prepared for a tricky Cheetahs side.

"We know that the Cheetahs can be unpredictable but we're better off concentrating on what we want to do," De Villiers said.

"We will be prepared to expect anything from them and in the end it all comes to how well we execute our game plan.

"They have a lot to play for since they could record their best Super Rugby season this year."
